Course A: Sapporo and Otaru tour
Ski jumping is a popular winter sport in Sapporo, and the jump hill at this ski jump stadium, which hosts World Cup events, affords spectacular panoramic views of the city of Sapporo. The adjacent Sapporo Winter Sports Museum houses exhibits from the Sapporo Winter Olympics as well as a virtual winter sports zone, where visitors can experience simulated sporting action. The tour also includes an observation and shopping visit to the Shiroi Koibito factory, where Sapporo’s famous souvenir confectionery is made. Finally, participants travel to the neighboring city of Otaru. Once known as the Wall Street of the north, Otaru’s illustrious past is reflected in its townscapes that retain the atmosphere of over a century ago, along with the shopping street famous for its local glassware.

Course B: Discover the Power of Volcanoes tour
The Lake Toya area, which hosted the 2008 G8 Summit, is one of Hokkaido’s most famous hot-spring locations and site of the active Mt. Usu volcano. Witness the power of Mother Nature here from the deformation of the earth’s crust, which can be seen from the Nishiyama Crater Footpath as it remains from the time of the volcanic eruption in 2000; or Showa Shinzan, a lava dome that sprung up from a field over a two-year period after an eruption in 1943. Famous confectionery can also be purchased as souvenirs from the shops at the local spa resort.
